…and you look at this Polar Bear

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

So we’re in NYC for a month. We’re living in a small one-bedroom in the upper west side which is a most excellent location. Baby sitting for the kids, Jen works out of the apartment. I work out of the Google office in Manhattan by day, and in the evenings we get [...]

The wisdom of children

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

When I realized this morning that I scheduled a phone meeting when my parents will be here, I said “Oh shoot!” Cole asked why so I explained the situation.
“It’s ok Mommy, you can still have your meeting. They’re coming here to see us, not you!”

Ally’s contractions: milkstache (what you have on your upper lip after you drink milk) and youmember (for “do you remember?”)

If you’re happy and your nose, clap your hands!

Kid quotes

Friday, January 20th, 2006

I keep meaning to write down the hilarious things the kids are saying. They are so serious sometimes.. but I always forget to write a blog entry. Jen and I have been so busy lately that sometimes we don’t get to fully catch up for a day or two. But when we [...]

Kwanzaa!

Saturday, December 24th, 2005

Ally watched a politically correct Blues Clues last week about holidays - covering Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Today she said to me that she wanted to celebrate Kwanzaa. OK. A few minutes later she was mad at me because I wouldn’t let her do something. She said, in her most aggrieved [...]

Saturday, December 24th, 2005

Cole’s new made up game.
Get pieces of paper. Cut them in sort of small pieces (about 1″ by 2″). Stand up on a dining room chair. Reach up with a piece of paper in one hand and scissors in the other. Cut the paper in half and say “Fireworks tan!” as [...]

Colorblind Cole

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

Cole is red-green colorblind just like both his grandfathers. This leads to amusing conversations:
Cole: Ally, what color is this?
Ally: It’s red!
Cole: Oh, I thought it was brown. Thanks, Ally.
Ally: You’re welcome!
Someday he may be a great artist…but Ally will help him pick colors.

Tuna

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

Cole found a leaf yesterday that he thought was shaped like a tuna. An upload download tuna fish, to be exact. It’s called that because it swims up and down in the water.
