Aliana is one week old!
It’s hard to believe that one week ago, we were on our way to the hospital all set to have a baby… the time has gone by so quickly. This time around we’re veterans and the adjustment was a lot easier, especially since we knew exactly what to expect. Even so, I had forgotten just how tiny a newborn baby is! Ally was only 7 pounds 10 ounces at birth (whereas Cole was 9 pounds) so granted she was a little bit smaller than he ever was, but even so — she’s tiny!. Right now all she does is eat and sleep, with occasional outbursts when she’s not getting what she wants. But today she actually had her eyes open for a few minutes and we took some pictures of her awake, which I’ll get up in the Gallery asap.
Cole loves to see what his “baby dista” is up to. The other day we were feeding him in his high chair and she was sleeping off to the side; he started yelling until we moved her around where he could see her. I don’t think he quite understands what’s going on yet, but thus far he’s adjusting really well to the changes. He doesn’t seem to get jealous when Jen is holding Ally and is very good at being gentle with her. Their car seats are right next to each other in the station wagon so whenever they’re both in there together he likes to check her out and see what she’s doing (sleeping, usually). Two days ago he successfully put her pacifier back in her mouth after it fell out and she started crying. He had this little grin on his face…it was the cutest thing! Except that then he immediately wanted to pull it back out so that he could put it back in again. Kids.
