Jen’s 40th Birthday Party!
Jen turns 40 tomorrow, but we threw her a party last week to celebrate so that she’d still be young enough to have fun at her own party.
We rented out Spago, a very nice restaurant in Palo Alto and had the entire place to ourselves for the evening. Just us and 70 of Jen’s closest friends. It was a fabulous time and of course we took a lot of pictures. We had an hour of cocktails in the Spago Pavilion where we drank some wine and socialized for an hour while munching on some of Spago’s excellent hors d’ouvres before moving into the main restaurant for dinner.
Jennifer Sims, Edie Smith and I gave toasts. Carol Bush sent in a toast from England, read by Jill McDonough and Bill and Liz (Jen’s parents) sent in a fabulous toast read by Audrey Seymour that included some really terrific photos of Jen when she was 2 years old. The likeness is amazing. Feel free to leave comments on the photos!
To top it off, the ultimate folks gave two hilarious cheers, one to the tune of the Blondie classic “The Tide is High”, the other by just the women to Copa Cabana (which is a long-running joke — we’ve done a ton of cheers to that song over the years). If I can dig up the lyrics and get them transcribed I’ll put a link to them here.
