So much to catch up on!

We’ve been neglectful in updating this log lately. Who’s got time? Ally has been sitting up and clapping for quite some time now. She’s ready to start crawling. Yikes!! She’s eating three meals a day…yummy mushed up veggies and fruit and cereal and bread and Cheerios (she’s very good at picking them up). She watches her big brother all the time and laughs and laughs at his antics. He says things like “No, Ally, don’t eat my book”

Cole is becoming so articulate and we continue to see his sense of humor emerging. He likes to make up songs. For instance, on one of his CDs, there’s a song called A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea. He noticed a crack between the cabinets and the counter so he started singing A Hole in the Bottom of the Cabinet. He also sings about “Lukey’s boots” instead of “Lukey’s boat” because he wears handmedown boots from his buddy Luke.

For his birthday, he got a bowl and plate from Bridget and Aidan. When they came over, he wanted to return them to them. Doesn’t quite get the idea of presents.

We give him timeouts when he does something he’s not supposed to - sometimes he gives them to himself. He’ll go into his room and sit on his chair. We also make deals with him - for instance, let’s put on PJs then you can read this book. This morning I heard him making a deal with Ally not to chew on his necklace anymore.

He was reading his alphabet book and he’s starting to understand that letters make sounds. He said “M…m…mouse, N…n…nuts, N…n…giraffe” Close. It was a picture of a giraffe to show its neck.

Cole’s a bit particular about the way things should be. In his crib when he goes to sleep, he has his three doggies which must be stacked on the far side of the pillow and facing the bottom of the crib. His water is on the other side of the pillow, also facing down. His baby and elephant are on either side of his head. Then he get “tuckies” with three blankets…in the right order. OCD perhaps?

Bharat has invented all kinds of games like the “run around Daddy” game for putting on his PJs. Run around Daddy, get a hug, put on a piece of PJ, repeat. Cole loves them.

Favorite things to say right now: “My do it!” which unfortunately sounds a little like Mommy do it and confuses me sometimes. When he’s stalling, he starts his sentences with “Because….” and he’ll look around wildly to find something to talk about.
